On April 14th, 2010, after a brief but heartfelt ceremony by Minister Ron Winckler, Nadine and Travis became officially husband and wife. Shortly after the signing of the license on Pacific Terrace– overlooking Polo Beach in Wailea, the couple enjoyed a toast and some cake before heading to the beach for sunset portraits. Travis showed off his rock climbing skills for several of the images as he and Nadine braved the lava rocks in their bare feet to get to just the right spot for a beautiful panoramic view of the rocks and ocean before the sun retired behind the island of Kaho’olawe. Photographer’s note: For some of the images I wanted to create a voyeuristic kind of feel since it was just the two of them. I like to place natural objects like leaves or bamboo in the foreground and shoot with a wide aperture to insure that only my subjects are in focus. I find that darker objects work better, but I’ve been know to spend some time in Photoshop to achieve just the right effect with lighter objects too. Which one do you think uses the effect best?
