Maui girl, Sophie, turns 1 year old!

The proud parents of soon to be 1 year old Sophie finished their 4th and final session of their Watch Me Grow package on Wednesday at the Makena Beach & Golf Resort. Sophie has been documented at 2 weeks, 3 months, 6 months and now, just about a year. It’s amazing to see how much she has changed and grown in such a short time. She could barely keep her eyes open during our first session, and now she’s already got enough balance and coordination to walk a few steps (as long as mom or dad is waiting with arms outstretched). Sophie enjoyed peeking at the koi fish and crawling in grass as the images were created. Mom and dad did a great job keeping her entertained and happy and enjoyed themselves as the session went on. They came in just a few days later to pick up their prints and CD before traveling off island to celebrate Sophie’s grandmother’s 70th birthday. How happy will grandma be to see these photos at her birthday?

Photographer’s note: At one point Sophie became intrigued with the lens and tried to grab it. By keeping her interested in it, I was able to capture a nice expression with her in what might be called the “cookie jar” perspective. Another little helpful tactic was employing the use of a squeeze toy (any pet shop will have one). The sound got her attention, and then by giving the toy to dad, it created a nice interaction between them.
